Metroplan recently announced the latest TAP grant recipients (Transportation Alternatives Program). Pulaski County will receive $400,000 for Arkansas River Trail improvements: Pinnacle Valley Rd from County Farm to Hidden Valley. In Saline County the Southwest Trail will get $296,000 toward the Old River Bridge renovation. See the complete list on the Metroplan website http://metroplan.org/

Trail Sweeper Fund-raising Campaign
The Arkansas River Trail Foundation announces the campaign to fund a Trail Sweeper for North LIttle Rock Parks. After the heavy rains and flooding last spring and summer, the Trail had to be closed to clean off debris. A Trail Sweeper will speed the process and get everyone back on the Trail sooner. Broadway Bridge Construction Closing Portions of the Arkansas River Trail
The staging areas and pre-construction work is making it necessary to detour the Arkansas River Trail in several places on both sides of the river. Use caution.

Restrooms, bike repair station and new walkway coming to the Big Dam Bridge
Little Rock Parks and Recreation was awarded a $120,000 outdoor recreation grant from the Arkansas Dept. of Parks and Tourism for the construction. The City of Little Rock, the Big Dam Bridge Foundation and Arvest Bank joined efforts to raise $120,000 in matching funding for the $240,000 project. See more. http://tinyurl.com/ltsvzk3

Arkansas River Trail Task Force Advances Safety Procedures

Emergency medallions to improve emergency responder dispatch
The Arkansas River Trail Task Force is pleased to announce the addition of trail signage that improves efficiency for emergency responders dispatched to the trail. Emergency medallions are in the process of being placed at trailhead access points and along the main trail every two-tenths of a mile. Trail users will soon be able to relay information from the nearest emergency medallion to plainly communicate an exact location to 911 operators. See press release. See example.
