Construction Alert

Little Rock Public Works and Little Rock Wastewater would like to alert all Arkansas River Trail users who plan to use the section of trail along Cantrell Road. Work has started on installing a new sewer main in that area and the contractor will have 2 large pits dug adjacent to the trail at the Episcopal Collegiate driveway. Heavy equipment and workers will be in that area until the end of December, weather permitting. The contractor also plans to work weekends to expedite the project’s completion.

The Arkansas River Trail Task Force recommends cyclists avoid using this section of the trail, if possible, until the work in that area is completed.  If you are traveling on that section, please be considerate of the construction workers and be extremely cautious. Look for future updates on the progress of this project and planned trail detours in that area.

Arkansas River Trail Task Force Advances Safety Procedures
Emergency medallions to improve emergency responder dispatch
The Arkansas River Trail Task Force is pleased to announce the addition of trail signage that improves efficiency for emergency responders dispatched to the trail. Emergency medallions are in the process of being placed at trailhead access points and along the main trail every two-tenths of a mile. Trail users will soon be able to relay information from the nearest emergency medallion to plainly communicate an exact location to 911 operators. See press release. See example.
